TULLY OVERPOWER BROTHERS

Despite the significance of the occasion, Brothers were unable to contain a strong Tully forward pack in going don to last years Minor Premiers 28 - 8 at the weekend.

Dressed in pink in a special Women in League round of rugby league, the Mrs Muriel Mulley Memorial Jersey was not enough to inspire the Brethren to a victory in the top-of-the-table clash.

Missing several key players in Joel Reithmuller, Wade Reithmuller and in-form winger Broski Emery-Hunia, the Brothers side were left to lament several first half missed opportunities. Crossing the line twice only to be called back for forward passes, Brothers went to the sheds at half tie trailling 10-4 in an even contest where both forward packs battled for supremacy. Denzel King was solid for the Fish in an even battle with Aaron Jolley from the Tigers, both hookers creating time and space for their halves to work with.

Completions have been an achilles heel for Brothers this season, and the trend continued.

"We simply cannot afford to complete at 60% when we come up against the top sides" said coach Chey Bird.

"When Tully are at 80% completions, we are always going to gas out towards the back end. Quality sides are able to defend and you really need to be able to build pressure to earn your points and that is not what we were able to do today" he lamented.

Tully were clinical. Behind strong go forward, young half Jake Clifford was able to steer his side around the paddock without too much pressure, allowing centre Greg Miglio to cross for a double.

Brothers will be looking to rebound quickly as they take on third place Edmonton at Petersen Park this weekend.
